Textpharm is run by Jo Whelan. Jo is an established freelance writer and journalist with a varied portfolio of successful projects. She has written a range of educational and training materials for blue-chip pharmaceutical companies and medical charities. She also writes clinical reference resources and patient education materials. She has published numerous news and feature articles in the pharmaceutical and scientific press.
 
Away from the pharmaceutical industry, Jo has written consumer-orientated health articles and is the author of four books on health issues for teenagers. She has also written online travel guides. She is an Advanced Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders and has copy-edited many scientific textbooks and popular science titles.

Career summary

After graduating in Biology, Jo began her career in scientific and educational publishing, working as an editor for the Royal Society of Chemistry and a senior editor at Longman Higher Education. She then moved into medical communications as a writer/researcher at MSC Communications in Cambridge. She went freelance in 1996.
